Day 4. Full day on Pangkor Island

I start the morning at a fairly ambitious hour because I want to bike around the island. After breakfast I go to check out the bikes they have where I'm staying, and literally none out of about 8 worked. Something wrong with the gears or chain or something, they would slip when I tried to pedal. In addition the seats had been thoroughly saturated with water, like a sponge, so by the time I was finished testing bikes my shorts were entirely wet. Nowhere else to rent bikes on this side of the island, I'd have to go back to the main town to get one, so I scrap that plan and decide to walk it instead. Fortunately the walk was awesome - I highly recommend it. By the time I started walking though it was 11, and by 3 I was too tired/ hot to keep going unfortunately. Yes, I had timed my walk for the hottest hours of the day. Got some great pics out of it, good exercise, and saw all the interesting parts of the island.

Pretty much the northern most side of the island, overlooking the mainland.

Had a late lunch in fishing village on the opposite side of the island. Have a hard time communicating with the locals in English so I switch to Chinese which works much better (Lots of ethnic Chinese all around Malaysia, most are 3rd generation or so), and felt pretty cool.

Decorations hanging down from red overhang are dried blowfish!

Fort built by Dutch in mid 1700s to protect tin stores (lots of tin mining on the mainland if you didn't read my previous entry)

Finish up the day with another swim and another dinner at Daddy's Cafe, with refreshing shower and delicious mango popsicle in between.

Walk around the touristy vendors at night and find this guy, who was selling fish including stingrays on ice, which looked very much alive!
